Leave the property immediately and assemble on the harbour quayside away from the building.

If you discover a fire

Alert all occupants immediately. Leave the property by the nearest safe exit — do not stop to collect belongings. Assemble at the harbour quayside. Call 999. A fire escape plan is displayed in the property.

Escape routes

Primary exit: Front door (internal turnbuckle lock) leading directly onto the quayside road.
Secondary exit:Landing window, (keepp clear at all times) out onto track.
Main Bedroom: Velux windows, in extremis can be used for rescue.

Fire detection & alarms

Smoke alarms: Nest Fire Alarms fitted in every bedroom, remotely monitored and automatically tested. Tested at every guest changeover. Other fire alarms through out property, includin heat alarm in kitchen. Please report any concerns immediatly.

Fire fighting equipment

Fire extinguishers: Extinguishers located in the lobby and on landing
Fire blanket: Located in the kitchen.

Only attempt to tackle a fire if it is small, you are confident, and your escape route remains clear. Otherwise, leave immediately.

Fire hazards & controls

Electrical installation fully inspected and tested (2026), inspected every 5 years
Portable electrical appliances periodically inspected and tested
Trailing leads and adaptors avoided where possible
No gas or oil appliances on the premises
Smoking not permitted on the premises
Premises secured to prevent unauthorised access
Combustible waste stored safely clear of the building
Fixed heating systems subject to periodic maintenance
Adequate fire precautions for log burner use, including regular chimney sweeping
No deep fat fryers; adequate cooking fire precautions in place
No candles permitted; fire pit kept away from the house
Combustible materials kept separate from ignition and heat sources
Weekly cleaning routine includes visual inspection for hazards

Fire protection measures

All escape routes kept clear of obstructions
All fire exits easily and immediately openable
Distances to final exits considered reasonable
Adequate artificial lighting and emergency escape lighting on escape routes
Fire exit and fire safety signs provided
Smoke/heat alarms and CO alarms — extent and coverage adequate
Fire extinguishers subject to annual maintenance
Emergency escape lighting tested monthly and annually
All records of testing and maintenance kept

Management of fire safety

Fire procedures documented and fire escape plan displayed in property
Fire safety information provided to guests on arrival
Exit routes and fire exits checked regularly
Smoke and heat alarms tested at every changeover
